Yad Vashem seeks to preserve the memory and names of the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust
and the numerous Jewish communities destroyed during that time (1933-1945).
Yad Vashem also honors non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust.
Yad Vashem is situated on the western slope of Mount Herzl on the Mount of Remembrance in Jerusalem, Israel.
